Against the Odds

It was a well known fact that a lot of people at Labour conference were incredibly moved by the video shown before Gordon's speech. Against the Odds goes through a potted history of the Labour Party, showing exactly why we can and
must win.

I thought it might be an idea to ask the Labour Party if they had considered using the film as a Party Political Broadcast...fast forward about a week and we're here: the #againsttheodds campaign has gathered phenomenal momentum, and I have just this moment heard that Eddie Izzard has tweeted his support. I can't quite believe how a small idea, hidden in the deepest of grass roots could get this far, Alastair Campbell has blogged on it, a few hundred have signed our petition and more have joined our Facebook group.

I've written a more detailed piece on Labourlist about why I think this video should be shown across the nation to remind people of what a Labour government can do, and has done.

Funny what can happen when you put your mind to something isn't it?... #GameOn

Can't face criticism ... what a joke! ... and typical.

Is it true what Spartan wrote on Tom Harris's blog that you delete all anti-Labour comments?

Seriously, New Labour are light years away from what Keir Hardie and the early Party stood for.

"New" Labour has betrayed those early pioneers and the whole country.

The video shows Neil Kinnock, Tony Blair and other champagne socialists who have become multi-millionaires because of their politics.

New Labour/Blu Labour: what's the difference at the end of the day?

Doesn't Britain deserve better?

Well Done Ellie!

You Don't have to be bullied by clowns.

I don't recall people of their persuasion objecting to the distinct lack of free speech on various blogs I've posted on.

eg I looked at Guy Fawkes once, and posted 2 comments, both accurate, one anti Lumley, the other pointing out the foreign base of his company.

Which do you suppose appeared?

You will let folk know when it is going out, please?

Spartan and Stewart Cowan - I'm not sure where Spartan got the notion that I delete anti-Labour comments, I think, if I'm not mistaken, that this was the first comment I've deleted on this blog... it was, to be fair, probably not the worst either, but I wasn't feeling very tolerant and fed up with ridiculous comments that didn't move debate on.

SC - there is a massive difference, which is why I joined the Labour party and fight for it. If there wasn't, I wouln't... simple.

Quietzapple- thank you, but I don't normally delete anything. As I said, I think that was the first...

Thanks Ellie,

Looks like another case of 'you can't believe everything you read'. Still, it's got you at least one more reader!

I said there's no difference between New Labour and the Tories because they're both controlled by the same globalist interests. See Copenhagen next month for more evidence.

What do you think about those champagne socialist millionaires?

First? ... there were 5 maybe 6 comments that were deleted ... of which 2 were mine.

lt wasn't till l posted on another couple of blogs that you refrained.

lt's your blog so do as you wish but atleast be truthful.

Stewart - I don't subscribe to New Labour, I think we shoul ditch that title (which ironically, is looking rather dated) and go back to Labour, plain and simple.
To be honest, I don't really care how much money our representatives have got, as long as they have principles... (and pay their taxes of course!) Tony Benn was rather wealthy after all, and it didn't hurt him.

Spartan - I can honestly say I do not have a clue what you're talking about. I don't remember any of your comments, and I certainly do not remember deleting any of them.
I hardly ever do, as I say, only this one that I can remember, but possibly a few more... only on grounds of racism, extreme sexism and violence, which I think would be my prerogative.

I feel extremely guilty about calling you an idiot on AC blog, was about the campaign and my its twitter presence than you. I think that against the odds is a bit smug and doesn't really appeal to me, but well done on mobilising it so well.

The Labour party has a glorious history indeed. However, New Labour doesn't. Where are it's socialist principles now? The government has cosied up to big business, displaced it's native working class with cheaper foreigners, turned a blind eye to the property bubble and city casinos, presided over the most corrupt parliament in UK history and engaged in illegal wars.
